Oak Wilt

Oak wilt is a fungal disease that affects most types of oak trees. Red oaks (the ones with pointy tips on the leaves) are most susceptible. Though it has only been reported in a couple of places in Ontario it is taken seriously since an infected tree is usually dead within a year! Spores infect the tree through wounds, or through roots connecting to an infected tree.

We no longer trim oak trees between April and November when Oak wilt is most active. Here is a link for more info on the disease: https://www.ontario.ca/page/oak-wilt
