Winter Tree Work

Why do tree work in the winter?

Although it can be hard working outside in our Canadian Winters, there are some good reasons to do tree work this time of year.

Basically things are frozen! The hard ground protects roots from compression from heavy equipment, and the frozen bark isn’t damaged very easily as we work in the trees. Since the trees are either dormant (leaf shedding trees) or growing very slowly (evergreens) there is minimal shock from trimming cuts.

For these reasons we keep the option open to do tree work (especially in woodlots) in the winter.
